The Bone Grafting Procedure

Your periodontist will explain the method they will use in detail and schedule your procedure.
On the day of surgery, we make an incision in the gum tissue to expose the underlying bone. Then, the graft material will be placed into the defect or the area where bone augmentation is needed. The graft may be held in place with a membrane to stabilize it and promote proper healing.
Over several weeks or months, the graft material will integrate with your existing bone tissue through a process called osseointegration. During this time, you must follow our post-operative care, which may include taking prescribed medications, maintaining good oral hygiene, and avoiding certain foods or activities to ensure proper healing.
